Titans release longtime LT Taylor Lewan, WR Robert Woods
NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The Tennessee Titans took several steps Wednesday to stay below the salary cap, including longtime left tackle Taylor Lewan, wide receiver Robert Woods, center back Zach Cunningham and kicker Randy.・Block released.
The
Titans were about $23.3 million above his cap in salary before Wednesday's transfer. Releases by Lewan ($14.8 million), Woods ($12 million), Cunningham ($8.9 million) and Bullock ($2 million) saved Titans about US$37.7 million against the cap.
Lewan, his three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman, was the 11th overall pick in the 2014 draft. Lewan, 31, is entering the final season of a five-year, $80 million contract signed in 2018. Lewan posted on his personal Twitter account. The
9 year veteran was the longest tenured player on the Titans roster. Lewan has had two ACL surgeries in his three years and in the past three seasons he has only played 20 games.
Lewan's most recent torn ACL occurred in Week 2 of last season's game against the Bills against Buffalo. Now Rewan must decide whether he wants to continue playing football.
He was released after failing a physical decision.
The
Titans last year traded his 2023 sixth-round pick to his Los Angeles Rams for Woods, who suffered a torn ACL in November 2021.
Woods, 30, has returned from injury and last season he appeared in all 17 games. A 10-season veteran, Woods had 53 receptions for 527 yards and two touchdowns in his only season with the Titans.
Tennessee asked Cunningham, 28, to waive his rights after being fired by the Houston Texans in 2021. His elbow injury kept Cunningham out for most of last season. He played in just his six games in 2022 and recorded 24 tackles.
Cunningham was also released after failing physical designation.
The 33-year-old Brock made 17 of his 20 goals on the field his attempts and was successful in all his 28 extra point attempts last season.
